Cure Apparel – Killing Diabetes

Imagine waking up one day for a doctors appointment, you go in assuming the normal check up, but instead they tell you that you are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes(for those of you who may not know, this is the serious stuff). This is basically what happened to the young man who built the brand I want to tell you all about today. Let me give you all a brief introduction to that young man, Kelly Kiernan, who in 2005, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. In 2008, Kelly decided to start trying to find ways to help research diabetes and eventually he came up with the idea of Cure Apparel, a full blown clothing line brand dedicated to finding a cure for diabetes. By 2009, the Cure Apparel brand took off and gained momentum when people took notice and starting buying apparel to help support diabetes research.

Now that you know a bit about the brand and its owner, I want to show you what they have to offer. I can assure you that it is nothing shy of high quality. Cure Apparel prints on 100% cotton Alternative Apparel which, if you are familiar with the industry, is one of the highest quality blanks you can get. Each of their shirts features a custom printed neck tag and custom woven tag sewn into the bottom hem of the shirt. Clearly, Cure Apparel knows what it’s about when it comes to putting out a quality product and that dedication to quality is also seen in their designs.

My personal favorite, titled Fingerprint, it features a huge front print of a finger print with the Cure Apparel logo at the top. Pretty simple, but also very effective. I will be picking one of these up soon.

Syringe is a little darker than some of the other designs, but there is tons of meaning behind it. Another big all over print covers most of the shirt with an ornate pattern that is decorated with a corral of syringes and a scroll that reads “Find The Cure”. I wouldn’t wear this one myself, but I can definitely appreciate the cause here.

Be sure to check out all of the shirts in the Cure Apparel Store. There are some great shirts for women as well, no worries there! They also carry silicone bracelets and stickers if you are interested in helping raise money, but aren‘t looking to purchase any t-shirts; every little bit helps.

But the Cure Apparel experience doesn’t stop at just the quality of the shirts. They carry their originality onto their packaging. If you order a shirt from Cure Apparel you are in for a nice surprise on your doorstep. Here is a picture of their custom boxes(below).
Not many clothing lines take the presentation of their shirts this far. So, if you think about it, for $20(or less, for some cases) you are getting one kick-ass t-shirt, and you are helping research a cure for diabetes. In my opinion, this is a win-win situation.

You have no reason to not go check out this amazing brand with an amazing cause motivating it every step of the way. Even if you don’t buy anything, tell your friends, Kelly has something great going here and people should hear about it! You can always keep up with Cure Apparel and everything that’s going on with them on Twitter or Myspace. They also update their official website and Tumblr on a regular basis so be sure to follow those as well!
