Innerspoken Review

Innerspoken Back Print
Every once in a while you come across a new indie brand that totally surprises you and blows your mind away.  That might sound a little over dramatic considering we’re talking about t-shirts here, but hey, I get excited sometimes gimmie a break 😉  Anyway…today I’ll be doing a review on a new brand called Innerspoken.  At first glance I noticed that the website is really well done, very easy to get around and it looks awesome.  As I move on to the about page to learn more about the brand and why they exist, I’m wowed again by their mission statement:

“Design should be more than just aesthetically pleasing. Sometimes it can also make you think. All innerspoken™’s shirt designs carry a message in their own quiet and distinct way. Some people may not get it right away; others might interpret it in a way that only they understand. That’s alright though. That’s how different people can take something different, something unique away from it. It’s about making it your own — not just the shirt, but the design as well.”

Aside from building a brand that people are happy to be a part of, you have to find ways to make yourself different from all of the other clothing lines out there.  A great way to do that is with your packaging, when I got my Innerspoken package out of the mail box I was confused by the shape and how it felt, it didn’t seem like there was a t-shirt inside.  So I opened it up and inside I found one of the coolest packaging methods I’ve seen so far:

Innerspoken PackagingThis is what my t-shirt came in.  I just think this is the coolest thing ever.  These are called pillow boxes and you usually see them used in retail stores for packaging things like assorted soaps or sometimes even candy.  I bet no one has ever thought to use them for t-shirts before…until now!  They also used a very nice quality clear vinyl sticker to add their logo to the box.

This just goes to show that there are all kinds of creative ways to display your product even if you do sell things online, presentation is still everything and you should always keep that in mind when sending out your tees.  People will be happy with a plain poly mailer but they’ll LOVE something different and unique.  You never know, they might even keep it and use it for their own purposes.  Maybe I should do an article on cheap & effective ways to have custom packaging?

Lets move on…after inspecting and opening up the neat little tube I got to this, the t-shirt:

Innerspoken Tee

The shirt reads “& is the only thing I want to come between us.”  I think this is so cute, and goes really well with the brand, again from their about page that states:

I’m a huge fan of details and subtlety. It’s the little things that make us giggle and brighten up our days. With that in mind, I try to put the same kind of attention to details into my shirts when designing them. Hopefully they will bring a smile to your face, and you will enjoy wearing them as much as I enjoyed making them.

The print on the shirt is superb, you can hardly feel it at all.  It’s not as white as it appears, its more of a yellowish off white color, but either way it looks great and I love it.  Their website says they print on American Apparel 100% cotton shirts but for some reason this feels and fits different than my other AA tees.  It fits and feels better actually, not complaining haha

Innerspoken Hang TagThe Ampersand shirt comes fixed with a huge custom woven neck tag that’s nice and soft so it wont bother you like some others.  It also has a woven tag on the sleeve, these are a really nice touch as I’ve said about two thousand times before, they look really pro.  If that’s still not enough for you, then take a look at that hang tag, tied on instead of attached with a tagging gun, it gives the shirt a more personal feel and makes you feel like Innerspoken took their time with each tee, and I’m quite sure they did.  The tag is actually a die cut sticker with their logo.  Very nice, I like!

The shirt has a print on the back that reads “Innerspoken is you & me” The picture is above.  This goes really well with the design and adds a nice final touch to an already awesome t-shirt.

In conclusion, I would say that Innerspoken tees are most definitely worth the $20 price tag, you get a nice high quality t-shirt, custom packaging, all kinds of extras on the shirt itself, and a nice message to share with anyone who asks you about your shirt.  And chances are…they will ask.  Please, feel free to share your thoughts on Innerspoken in a comment below, I’d love to hear your thoughts!  Now, go buy a tee! This brand deserves your money 😉

  1. Very cool t-shirt along with a great presentation! I understand your excitement!

  2. I bought one of these shirts and loved the quality and originality of them so much I bought a second one. Also love the little personal email you receive when your order is shipped. It’s like buying from a high end store but with more attention to detail.
