Something Out Of Nothing – A Proper Brand Intro Video

Something Out Of Nothing Pocket Tee

Something Out Of Nothing Pocket Tee

When it comes to making videos that introduce your brand to people, it needs to be done right, and what I mean by that is it has to really get across the message you’re trying to send, it’s not a commercial(well it is, but it can’t seem like one), it’s an introduction to what people can expect from you and your brand.  Today I want to show you what I think is a very well done intro video that gets the point across without being to “sales-y”, if that makes sense.

Something Out Of Nothing (S.O.O.N) is a brand based in the UK that is really really hands on, their all about creating something and creating it WELL.  Their products are hand crafted all the way from the printing to the hang tags.  If you don’t own a brand, then I can’t stress enough how much hard work that would all  be to do.  But the important part is that(and this is a quote from the video) “if you do what you love, you’ll never have to work another day in your life.”, and it’s so true.  That’s my favorite part of their video.  You can watch it really quick here:

S.O.O.N did an amazing job keeping this video short, sweet and to the point, but it still promotes their brand and even some of their products.  I personally love what the brand is all about and the products seem to be top notch too. My personal favorite is their white on grey pocket tee, but they have a wide variety of hand dyed tye dye shirts as well as beanies that are all awesome.  Well, I’m not much into tye dye, but I know that’s a “thing” now so I won’t judge 😉

Anyway, if you want to keep up to date with S.O.O.N then be sure to follow them on Twitter and Facebook and make sure you check out their website to see their full range of products, you won’t be disappointed!

We Are The Recipe – Tasty Urban Apparel

[Use The Code TEESPOTTER for 25% off of your purchase! Expires @ The end of February]

We Are The Recipe Limited Edition Tee

We Are The Recipe Limited Edition Tee

I have yet another UK brand for you all to feast your eyes upon(see what I did there?)!  They’re called We Are The Recipe and they have something truly different than most brands these days that are selling streetwear/urban stuff.  Specifically, I want to tell you about their new limited edition shirt, but first, here is a bit about the company:

We Are The Recipe was started when Aaron, the brand’s designer and owner started to combine is love of design and print with hip-hop, street wear and Japanese Cartoons.  If you’re wondering where he gets his inspiration from, check out their Pinterest.  In the end, what was built was what you see, super original, colorful and fun designs that set a path different from where other brands are heading.  And if you ask me, that’s a very good thing, trends die, but originality never does.

As for the new limited edition tee, you get all of this for just £19.00:   1 Limited Edition Tee (individually numbered on inside neck), 1 Proof of Authenticity card (signed & dated), 1 Limited Edition Chopsticks (individually numbered), and a variety of We Are The Recipe postcards/stickers, all packaged in a WATR Pizza Box!  How awesome is THAT?!

We aren’t talking about some cheap shirt either, these are 100% ringspun cotton jersey tees, which means they’re comfy, soft and will hold up well in the wash, provided you take good care of them.  The inks used to produce these is waterbased, so the print won’t feel caked on and will never, ever crack no matter what you do to it.  Like I said, this is one quality shirt!  Oh yea, and you can get this shirt in both blue, or red, if the one shown isn’t your style.

I don’t wanna drop any spoilers, but I may be getting my hands on one of these soon to do a nice review on, you know how I do!  So, if you’re still skeptical and aren’t sure about purchasing, just hang out for a little while and I’ll be able to put your fears to rest, as well as give you all the dirty details about We Are The Recipe‘s products! But until then, you’ll just have to use your best judgement, or take my professional word for it. =)

Mindless Tees Is Here To Blow Your Mind!

Mindless Tess – Mindblown

I’ve covered Mindless Tees before, but they recently came out with a new design and I’d like to cover it today.  This new tee is way different than their other stuff, but I think it can definitely still appeal to the same crowd so if you liked their stuff before, I think you still will.

The artwork really reminds me of Quakerninja’s style, I’m not sure if this was done by him or not but it’s very possible.  It’s a little complicated for my taste, and the text doesn’t seem to go with the design in my opinion, but I like it more than Mindless Tees older stuff.  Oh yea, the design is titled Mind Blown, now the title of this post is way more relevant 😉

In addition to this new tee, MT has also released the same design as a sticker, as well as introduced two different combo packs that get you a tee and a hat or skateboard depending on which combo you choose.

You may also start to see some MT products on Dope Fruit in the near future, which I’m sure is very exciting news for them.

If you have any of Mindless Tees products, send them a picture to add to their new Photo Wall!

New Burn Card Tee – Team

Burn Card Clothing is back, yet again, with another new tee in 2012.  Honestly I think this one is my favorite so far.  They took the classic theme of a baseball teams shirt and put their twist on it and it came out awesome.  In addition to that they have decided to go with a 50/50 tee instead of their usual 100% heavy cotton.Burn Card Clothing Team Shirt
Of course ‘Team‘, just like all Burn Card shirts comes with a nice little hem tag and a printed neck label, as well as arriving at your door in the coolest packaging EVER!  To see a review of one of Burn Card’s shirts, please see this link.  Now, what are you waiting for? Go check out this shirt!

Dead Kingdoms New Release

Dead Kingdom is a clothing line from the UK that specializes in bold one or two color designs, much like a street wear brand. I’m a big fan of their newest shirt titled N O S K U L L S which is the main purpose of this post. Above you can see a nice preview of the shirt. The design is super simple and clean, which is probably why I like it so much, compared to the other DK designs its definitely an improvement in my opinion. The only thing I would say is that their website needs some work and that they should use those awesome look book photos instead of the shirts just hanging on the mannequin things. Other than that, it just as their website states “Cool as F**k” haha

Anyway, this new shirt is awesome so go check it out, and pick one up if you dig it!

Brand New Forum Dedicated To The Clothing Industry!

I’ve found out about a new forum/message board that’s specifically made for the entire clothing industry.  I don’t think one exists quite like this so I’m pretty excited to give you all this news.  It’s titled United Through Thread or UTT.  The board has just opened as of yesterday so things are quite bare right now(and in need of some design work), but with the help of all of you and a little bit of luck it can turn into a great community where everyone can go for advice, information or just to network with others.

This is also a great way to get free promotion for your brands.  No, I don’t mean shamelessly make threads promoting yourself but rather, leave a link and a small description in your signature and just be an active member, you’ll see traffic come through, trust me.  See my tips below to get the most out of joining a forum.

To help kick things off I’ve posted 2 new threads with some of the most popular articles I’ve written on Tee Spotter.  Soon I’ll be writing another new article exclusively for UTT and I know it’s something everyone will be interested in.  I think these will work as sort of an icebreaker to get everyone talking and make things seem less bare.  These are the two articles I’ve chosen to post:

How To Be Earth Friendly With Your Clothing Line

Why T-Shirts Are Good For Your Band(And For Artists)

Get over there and sign up, introduce yourself here and let everyone know who you are and stuff(here’s my intro post as an example) and then join in on the conversations by giving your input on the ones I’ve posted or by making your own. It’s that easy!  After that, get everyone you know to join!  Or well, at least the ones involved with clothing.

PRO TIPS:

1- Upload an avatar.  Yes, of course you don’t feel like it and it seems like it won’t make a difference.  But the truth is everyone hates talking to some faceless person on the internet, and it’s even worse when there’s an army of them.  Make it easier to tell everyone apart and just do it, you’ll look more professional that way.  You can even make it the logo of your company.

2- Be useful.  By that I mean contribute in a way that’s productive.  Don’t be a troll, sure it’s funny at first but after a while it just gets really old.  Be nice, give advice when you can, and just try to add to the community as much as you can.  Your time will pay off much easier that way.  Also, don’t make vague comments like “cool” or “I don’t like it” – be more descriptive, WHY is ti cool and WHY don’t you like it.  Try to stay constructive otherwise you’re just wasting your time.

3- Stay cool.  This kind of ties in with the above tip.  We all know there’s some people on the internet who suck and like to hide behind their keyboard and act powerful, just ignore it.  If you lash back then you’re just stooping down to their level.  Be mature and you’ll come out looking professional while they look like children.

4- Stay active! This is the most important one, try to log in at least once a day and make a few posts.  It won’t take long and it really pays off.  Remember that your signature is at the bottom of every post you make, that means your link is scattered throughout, so the more you post the more people see that.  But of course remember not to spam and remember #2 – be useful!

That’s all for today, I hope to see a bunch of you over there very soon! =D  My username is JMorgan so you know who I am.

London Based Anime Inspired Clothing Line – Mayamada!

Their name is Mayamada, and their goal is “to bring imagination to life and have fun doing it”. For some of us that’s enough to get us interested in checking out a new clothing brand, but some others need a little bit more convincing, and for those tough cookies I’ve written this article, please keep reading!

Mayamada is a London based clothing line featuring colorful and fun anime designs based off of a Japanese television set where all of the cast are animals. Sounds far fetched, but the imagination behind this brand really has be hooked, and I’m not even an anime fan!

Upon first visiting the website you’re greeted with bright red and white, a few buttons that will lead you around where you can find out more about the company and finally the storefront, or “gift shop” as it’s called here. Lets go there, that’s where my favorite stuff is!

Mayamada Logo Tee

Mayamada Logo Tee

The shirt that I like the most, oddly enough, is their logo tee(pictured). It’s so simple and clean. I do love a good logo tee every now and then too. But for those of us who like a little more complexity to our shirts, there are many other options, all full of color and character. One thing that bothers me about their store is that the prices aren’t listed unless you click on each product, this might not matter for everyone else but it does irk me a bit. Call me picky.

I like that Mayamada carries a nice selection of both guys and ladies shirt styles and colors as opposed to most clothing lines who sell mostly guys clothing and then offer extra small as an option for the girls. That doesn’t quite cut it, if you’re brand is one that could cater to women, don’t just offer them a unisex tee and expect them to buy them all up, make something that’s specifically tailored to FIT them. This obviously depends on what kind of brand you’re running but it’s something to think about.

The product shots on this site are awesome! They tie perfectly into the branding and the “fun” adjective that they rely so much on. I would say that maybe the models should be wearing animal masks or something to go with that part of the theme, but I can also see how quickly and easily that would become completely creepy. Don’t do that.

As far as their products go, I can’t speak much for the quality as I don’t know their printing methods or what kind of shirts they print on, but they do have some neat finishing done on their shirts. On the back of the neck there is a small patch that has their logo that’s sewn in into the shirt, as well as a small hem tag at the bottom of each tee. Both look great to me. The product descriptions also mention that it comes all wrapped up in their own custom packaging.

In my honest opinion Mayamada looks completely trust worthy and if you’re thinking about placing an order, then you can rest assured that even if you don’t get exactly what you are hoping for, they have a very easy return policy that accommodates anyone.

Head over to the Mayamada website now and check everything out, even if you don’t like anime you’re bound to at least get a few smiles out of it.  Let me know what you think of this new UK brand, leave me a comment! =)

My DBH Picks For June 1st-8th 2012

I decided to try out something new, every week I’m going to post a handful of my favorite designs that are up for voting over at Design By Humans. It will help promote the artists and hopefully get their designs printed, and it’ll also get me back in the habit of participating in the DBH community. So with that said, here are my top picks of the week.  Please go vote for them.

To clarify, these are designs that I have actually voted for, there are other designs on there that I like but I didn’t vote for them because I think they could use more work. So just because your design doesn’t get posted here doesn’t mean I hate it 😉

To see all of the designs I’ve ever voted for, as well as my comments/input on the designs, check out my profile.

Dream Gold’s Summer 2012 Mini Collection

Dream Gold - ObsidianDream Gold has been doing awesome things recently and it seems like they wont be putting a stop to this anytime soon. Since they’re beginning they have seriously stepped up their game and in my opinion, they are one of the masters at branding in the indie clothing line world.

DG just dropped their new mini summer line, so lets take a look at whats good! My favorite item is definitely the Obsidian tank top(pictured), the design is killer and who doesn’t love a nice light and comfy tri-blend tank top for those hot summer days? As with all of their shirts, this piece comes complete with a gold and black hem tag as well as a printed neck label. Oh, and everything is printed on American Apparel.

The second design they’ve released with this line is called ‘At Bay’ and features a mildly humorous typography piece that reads “a golden brick a day keeps the trouble at bay”.  Also printed on American Apparel tri-blend, and comes in mens or womens cuts.

I’ve definitely added these new shirts to my list of stuff to buy, you should too! By the way, the first 25 orders get a free limited edition button pack, so don’t sit around for too long 😉  Head over to the Dream Gold store now.
